My health journey after learning that I have multiple sclerosis

I am just writing this as a foot note so that I don’t actually forget to write it at all. My life has been so busy since I was thirty years old and now that I am 36, I feel that it is the right time to share a part of what I have done to help myself be a healthier person.

This is not telling anyone else what to do with their own personal lives. I am not a doctors and this is just my experience anecdotally so if you do read please bear in mind this is a journal not so that I won’t forget to at least speak about this.

As a young woman, I was devastated when I learned that I had multiple sclerosis. This autoimmune disorder affects the central nervous system and can cause a wide range of symptoms, including muscle weakness, fatigue, and problems with balance and coordination. In the face of this diagnosis, I felt overwhelmed and unsure of how to move forward.

However, I eventually made the decision to take control of my health and my life by joining a gym and committing to a whole food plant-based, no oil, anti-inflammatory diet. This was not an easy decision, and it required a lot of hard work and dedication. But the results have been nothing short of miraculous.

When I first started my journey, I weighed 226lbs. This was a significant health concern for me, as carrying excess weight can contribute to the development of several chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. In addition to the health risks, I also struggled with low self-esteem and a lack of energy and motivation. As well as being a smoker. Which I have also given up doing.

Despite these challenges, I was determined to make a change. I began by joining a gym and working to develop a fitness routine that was tailored to my needs and goals. This involved a combination of cardio and strength training exercises, as well as yoga and other low-impact activities that were gentle on my body.

In addition to regular exercise, I also made the decision to switch to a whole food plant-based, no oil, anti-inflammatory diet. This meant eliminating all animal products and processed foods from my diet and focusing on whole, natural foods that were rich in nutrients and free from additives and preservatives. I also stopped drinking all and any alcohol. This was a major change for me, as I had always been a meat-eater and had relied heavily on convenience foods. But I was determined to do whatever it took to improve my health and my quality of life.

Over time, I began to see significant changes in my body and my overall health. As I lost weight and gained strength and endurance, my energy levels improved, and my moods became more stable. I was also able to reduce my medication levels and manage my multiple sclerosis symptoms more effectively.

In total, it took me about three years to reach my goal weight of 140lbs. This was not an easy journey, and there were many times when I wanted to give up. But I persevered, and the results have been nothing short of miraculous.

Today, I am stronger, healthier, and more confident than I have ever been. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my story and hope that it will inspire others who are facing similar challenges.

However, I do not recommend that other people follow the exact same path that I did. Everyone is different, and what works for one person may not be the best approach for another. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional and consider all of the risks and benefits before making any major changes to your diet or exercise routine.

Despite the many challenges and sacrifices that I had to make along the way, I am grateful for the opportunity to share my story and hope that it will inspire others who are facing similar challenges. While losing weight and improving my health was not easy, the benefits have been immeasurable. I have more energy and motivation, and I feel better about myself both physically and mentally.

In addition to the physical changes, I have also experienced a number of other benefits from my journey. For example, I have become more confident in my ability to set and achieve goals, and I have developed a greater sense of discipline and determination. I have also learned to prioritize my health and well-being, and I have gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of self-care.

While I do not recommend that other people follow the exact same path that I did, I do believe that it is possible for anyone to make positive changes to their health and their life. With hard work and dedication, it is possible to overcome obstacles and achieve your goals, no matter what they may be.

Six years after embarking on my journey, I am now studying for my degree in fine art, which is the best reward for everything I have achieved. This was a dream that I had always had, but I never believed that it was possible for me to pursue. However, thanks to the changes I made to my diet and exercise routine, I have gained the strength, energy, and confidence to follow my passion and pursue my dreams.

As I continue to study and grow as an artist, I am grateful for the opportunity to share my story and inspire others who may be facing similar challenges. I believe that it is never too late to make positive changes to your health and your life, and I hope that my journey will encourage others to pursue their own goals and dreams.

In conclusion, my health journey has been a challenging but rewarding experience that has had a profound impact on my health, my confidence, and my quality of life. Six years later, I am now studying for my degree in fine art and am grateful for the opportunity to share my story and inspire others. I believe that it is never too late to make positive changes to your health and your life, and I encourage everyone to work with a healthcare professional and make informed decisions that are based on their individual needs and goals.
